2005~    Planning Stages
Promotion of WiMAX development via governmental policies and strategies.
●Establishment of Taiwan’s WiMAX Development Blueprint Committee by the Executive Yuan’s Science and Advisory Group.
●Official ratification of Taiwan’s WiMAX Development Blueprint by Executive Yuan.
●Taiwan’s government signs MOU with Intel.
●Official launching of Industrial Development Bureau’s M-Taiwan Application Promotion Program Office.
●M-Taiwan Project grants funds to companies to deploy WiMAX networks in Taipei and Taichung cities as well as Nantou, Tainan, Yilan, and Hualien counties. Funding provided to FET, Fitel, CHT, and Tatung.

 

2006~   Development Stage
Establishment of Taiwan’s WiMAX Ecosystem
●MOEA’s DoIT grants funds to MediaTek, Tecom, Cisda, FET, and ASUS to develop WiMAX technology.
●MOEA’s IDB provides funding for WiMAX product development to Zcom, ZyFELX, ZyXEL, MB and Mobile Devices.
●M-Taiwan Project funds VIBO, FET, Fitel, CHT, in deploying WiMAX networks in the Taipei and Kaoshiung areas including Taoyuan, Pingtung, and Hualien countries.
●WiMAX devices developed by Gemtek, Accton, Acer, Quanta, USI, Alpha Networks, CyberTan, and Cameo.
●M-Taiwan Project grants funding to develop application services such as M-Entertainment, HD TV, and eSNG, to HP, TTV, and CTV.

 

2007~2009    Pioneering Stage

2007
●M-Life, M-Shopping services are developed by United Daily News, and Global Vision through funding by the M-Taiwan Project.
●WiMAX Forum announces the M-Taiwan white paper.
●Taiwan’s government signs MOU with Nortel, NEC, and R&S.
●WiMAX Forum establishes a Taiwan office.
●WiMAX Forum announces establishment of two Designated Certification Labs in Taiwan with fixed and mobile certification services.
●WiMAX Forum selects Taiwan as the site to establish its first WiMAX Application Services Lab in the world.
●WiMAX Forum announces ADT Corp. as the first WiMAX Designated Certification Lab in Taiwan.
●National Communications Commission (NCC) issues six WiMAX licenses.
●WiMAX Forum holds its Member Conference in Taiwan.
●Taiwan’s government signs MOU with Motorola, Alcatel-Lucent, Nokia Siemens Networks, Sprint-Nextel, and Starent.
2008
●Alcatel-Lucent establishes its Interoperability Testing Center in Taiwan.
●WiMAX Forum announces TTC-CCS as its 2nd Designated Certification Lab in Taiwan.
●Taiwan’s government signs an extended MOU with Intel.
●M-Cargo management, VIS, M-Video News iReporter and survey services are developed by Tran-Van, IBM, udn.com and CHIEF telecom through funding by the M-Taiwan Project.
●MOEA and Sprint ink an MOU.
2009
●M-Learning and M-Tourism services are developed by Gjin and MiTAC through funding by the M-Taiwan Project.
●Industrial Technology Research Institute (ITRI) becomes the board member of WiMAX Forum.
●M-Taiwan certified the first batch of WiMAX products.
