After WiMAX Forum and Information Technology Research Institute (ITRI) hosted the 2007 WiMAX Summit Taipei and 2007 WiMAX Forum Taipei Showcase and Conference, WiMAX was in the spotlight around the world.
WiMAX Forum, ITRI, and Institute for Information Industry (III) will host the WiMAX Forum Operator Summit in June at Taipei again. Since COMPUTEX, the second largest IT exhibition in the world, is opened, Taipei Computer Association (TCA) hosts “2008 WiMAX Expo, Taipei”. This exhibition will show the strength of Taiwan’s WiMAX industry, and to create more business opportunities.
The organizing committee of the summit is inviting global operators including Sprint-Nextel, KT (Korea Telecom), and different regional operators from Japan, Russia, India, and Brazil. They will demonstrate the advantages of the network operation and accelerate the deployment of WiMAX via this summit.
“ITRI is the bridge between Taiwan WiMAX industry and WiMAX Forum. Because Taiwan WiMAX development is important to WiMAX Forum, WiMAX Forum Operator Summit is opened in Taiwan in this year,” said Johnsee Lee, President of ITRI, “This exhibition will help international operators to exchange experiences of the deployment and the operation. It also will create more business opportunities.”
On 19th December, 2007, WiMAX Forum announced the certification program of mobile WiMAX, which will trigger more WiMAX deployment worldwide. The demands of network interoperability still need to be addressed. Therefore, the alliance between M-Taiwan plan and global operators will further expand and deploy WiMAX worldwide.
The next two to three years will be critical for growth and expansion of WiMAX applications. For this reason, ITRI, III, and WiMAX Forum are cooperating with WiMAX Forum again to organize the 2008 WiMAX Forum Operator Summit and Expo to show the strength of Taiwan’s WiMAX industry, and to create business opportunities.
The summit workgroup is planning the content, and inviting guests. The summit program will include keynote speeches and panel discussions on business models, case studies, and application services. The summit attendees will visit the WiMAX Expo, M-Taiwan WiMAX Applications Lab (MTWAL), and the first WiMAX Forum applications lab to see the current status of WiMAX development.
“2008 WiMAX Expo, Taipei” will showcase the achievements of M-Taiwan. Before WiMAX operators provide commercial services, visitors can experience firsthand the application of high speed networks. WiMAX Forum Operator Summit will show the strength and experiences of Taiwan’s WiMAX industry. This summit not only will create business opportunities for Taiwan, but it also will increase the development of global WiMAX industry, and will popularize its network services.
“Since Taiwan’s WiMAX industry and infrastructure have been built in the last three to five years, the change for IT industry is coming,” said J.T. Wang, Chairman of TCA. “This wireless broadband technology benefits mobile users, and its open IP standard ability sets advantages for Taiwan’s IT industry. I believe WiMAX will aid Taiwan industries to climb another peak.”
“I estimate the combination of COMPUTEX and “2008 WiMAX Expo, Taipei” will attract 40 thousand buys to visit, and WiMAX will be the biggest event in COMPUTEX period.” said J.T. Wang. “With light weight NB and Green NB subjects, the foreign buyers should be attracted, and to create win-win business.”
The exhibition will include M-Taiwan Theme Pavilion, WiMAX System Products Area, WiMAX Testing Area, WiMAX Components Area, and WiMAX Applications Area. It will have over 60 WiMAX operators and manufacturers from different regions to show the newest 802.16e mobile products, testing solutions, and application services. Also, domestic end-to-end solutions, base stations, and back end systems, will be shown in this exhibition.
The global operators and manufactures are supporting “2008 WiMAX Expo, Taipei”. Overseas vendors are Intel、Alcatel-Lucent、Motorola、Fujitsu、Starent、Nokia Siemens Networks and Wichorus. Domestic vendors, Tatung, First International Telecom, FarEasTone Net, Vastar TV, Gemtek, Zyxel, TECOM, Accton, will deliver WiMAX mobile technologies and a diversity of products including CPE and WiMAX-based stations.
Since ASUS, Quanta Computer, and Acer, will show Wi-Fi/WiMAX NB solutions for the first time ever, this exhibition will be the window and platform for the development of WiMAX.
First International Telecom will provide Motorola WiMAX 16e equipment and WiMAX buses to drive through TWTC Exhibition Halls 1 and 2, and Nangang Exhibition Hall to demonstrate WiMAX mobile capabilities.
